West Indies bowlers have no answers to India’s batting reply as the hosts are struggling to contain the touring team from scoring big.

Virat Kohli is still batting on 72 with Ravindra Jadeja chipping in, batting on 21.

India started adding to the overnight score of 312 for four with debutant century-maker Yashasvi Jaiswal going big before getting caught behind by Joshua Da Silva off Alzarri Joseph’s bowling. He departed for 171, the highest score by an Indian debutant in Tests. The list is headed by Shikhar Dhawan (187 vs Australia) followed by skipper Rohit Sharma (177 vs West Indies).

After getting reinstated in the vice-captaincy role for his batting performance in the recently concluded World Test Championship Final against Australia, Rahane failed to make a mark in India’s batting feast as he tried to play on the rise against Kemar Roach and handed a catch to Jermaine Blackwood at covers.

India are comfortably placed at 400 at the loss of four wickets at lunch with Virat Kohli going at cruise-control as he is currently batting on 72.

After registering his 29th Test fifty, Kohli will look to end his overseas Test century drought and he is well on course to do so.
