After the sacking of Graham Potter last season and a brief spell under Frank Lampard, Chelsea appointed former Tottenham Hotspur and PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino as their coach. The Argentine manager has arrived at the club for his official first day as Chelsea manager.
As per a video posted on the club's social media accounts today, Pochettino is seen arriving at the Cobham training ground.
With a pre-season tour to the US starting soon, Pochettino will be working with a handful of international players including Raheem Sterling, Enzo Fernandez, Thiago Silva and some U-21 players.
Pochettino is tasked with improving a talented squad that saw them finish a lowly 12th in the English Premier League 2022/23 season. It happened to be the Blues' worst season since 1994 (finished 11th).
Also, Pochettino will be aware of a mass exodus of players from the club. The likes of Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have been sold. Hakim Ziyech and a few others are also expected to depart.
However, there have been some arrivals too with France striker Christopher Nkunku and Senegal winger Nicolas Jackson, who have joined from RB Leipzig and Villarreal, respectively.
