Indian Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma has reportedly received three traffic challans from the Pune Traffic Police for overspeeding on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The incident took place when the Men In Blue captain was on his way to join the Indian squad that's currently practicing in Pune for the next fixture against Bangladesh on Thursday, October 19. According to the report in the Pune Mirror, Rohit was driving in his Lamborgini and reportedly sped over 200km/h and thus received three challas from the traffic police for his reckless driving. (Scorecard | Streaming | Key Battles | Full Coverage)

The report further stated that an official from the traffic department had expressed concerns over Rohit's 'reckless' driving on the highway in midst of the World Cup and even suggested that the Mumbai-born should be travelling in the team bus with the police escort.

Talking about the 36-year-old, the opening batter has been supreme form in this ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and is the highest run-scorer for Team India in the tourney so far. He has so far amassed 217 runs at an average of 72.33 and a strike rate of 141.83 with one century and one fifty to his name.

In their game against Pakistan, Rohit played a gem of an innings (83 off 63 balls) that helped India beat their arch-rivals by seven wickets in Ahmedabad. With India still unbeaten in this World Cup, the opening batter will look to continue his perennial form against Bangladesh in Pune.
