It's been ten years since her international debut but Smriti Mandhana has not looked back. Her foray into cricket was down to her brother Shravan, who played the sport and represented Maharashtra at the U-19 level. Despite her brother not making it big in cricket, the game grew on Smriti and she eventually took up the sport. (Cricket News | 2023 ODI World Cup)

Outlook India has joined hands with Oriflame in highlighting the lesser-told stories of sporting triumph amid adversity, via the 'Pitching Glory' initiative. Mandhana is the second player in a series of players that will feature in the initiative. You can watch the video below.

At the age of 16, Smriti made her international bow for India in a T20 match against Bangladesh Women. In 2017, the southpaw played a crucial role in helping India reach the final of the ICC Women's ODI World Cup where they lost to England by nine runs.

It was India's first World Cup final since 2005. Her recent feat include podium finish as member of the India's gold medal squad at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou. Still in her mid-20s, Smriti Mandhana has a long career ahead as she looks to add more feats and accolades into her kitty.
