IPL 2023, CSK Vs MI: Matheesha Pathirana Stars In CSK's Dominance Over MI - In Pics

Records and jinxes were broken at the Chepauk as the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) hosted Mumbai Indians (MI) in their reverse fixture on Saturday. Rohit Sharma registered his 16th Indian Premier League (IPL) duck, the most by any player in the tournament, as his team were restricted to 139-8 after being put into bat first. CSK, on the other hand, won their first match at the Chepauk against MI after 13 years. Matheesha Pathirana came up well with the ball and was declared the player of the match for his 3-15. Nehal Wadhera was the shining light in MI's otherwise lacklustre performance, scoring 64 runs from 51 balls. CSK did not complicate the run chase and stuck to a simple plan, as Devon Conway (44) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (30) started off aggressively to prevent any pressure from building. MS Dhoni scored the winning runs, as the match was won in 17.5 overs, and helped CSK leapfrog to second place on the table with 13 points.
