The Army pair of Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh produced a stunning effort at Fuyang Water Sports Centre in Hangzhou on Sunday to claim Indi's first medal at the 2023 Asian Games. After a strong starto to the regatta, Jat and Singh seemed to have lost steam midway, but in a frantic final 500m, they made stunning strides to finish second behind China, and ahead of Uzbekistan. It will be a busy Saturday for Indian rowers with many more featuring in the finals. In Guangzhou Asian Games 2010, Indian rowers finished with one gold, three silver and one bronze medal while in Indonesia in 2018, the country claimed one gold and two bronze medals.

The expereinced Indian pair, piited against defending champions from Japan and strong favourites China and Uzbekistan, clocked 6:28.18, 5.02  behind the gold meddalists. The Uzbek pair timed 6:33.42, which was 10.26 slower than the Indians.
