India national cricket team star Virat Kohli bagged the ICC ODI Men's Cricketer of the Year 2023 award at the ICC Awards 2023. Kohli shone for the Men in Blue at the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 on home soil, scoring a record number of runs in the tournament; he was named the player of the competition despite ending up on the losing side in the final. The player who captained the team which beat India in the final, Pat Cummins (Australia) took home the highest honour, that of the ICC Men's Cricketer of the Year 2023. (More Cricket News)

England's Nat Sciver-Brunt was named the ICC Women's Cricketer of the Year 2023 for her superb displays over the past 12 months, while Sri Lanka's Chamari Athpaththu and West Indies' Hayley Matthews took the corresponding honours in the ODI and T20I categories, respectively. Australia's Phoebe Litchfield, meanwhile, was crowned ICC Women's Emerging Cricketer of the Year 2023, with New Zealander Rachin Ravindra taking the parallel prize in the men's competition.

Both India and Australia returned with double wins from the ICC Awards 2023. For India, Suryakumar Yadav beat his fellow nominees to the ICC Men's T20I Player of the Year 2023 award, while Usman Khawaja was crowned the player of the Test format over the past year.
