F1 returns to Malaysia after almost nine years and is set to host the race on October 4, 2026.
The event will officially be known as the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.
The Malaysian Grand Prix will now sit between the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on September 26 and the Singapore Grand Prix on October 11.
The rescheduled Bahrain GP is set to take place in Malaysia at the Sepang International Circuit from October 2 to October 4.
The main race is however scheduled on October 4. The event will officially be known as the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.
F1 returns to Malaysia after nine years, the last race being held in 2017.
Bahrain GP was initially postponed due to the escalating tensions in the middle-east during the US-Iran war and other regional conflicts.
Malaysia Welcomes F1 After Nine Years
The iconic Sepang International Circuit will host an F1 race after almost nine years.
The circuit which is located near the Kuala Lumpur International Airport was a regular fixture on the F1 calendar for over two decades and has been home to many of the memorable races.
The Malaysian Grand Prix will now sit between the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on September 26 and the Singapore Grand Prix on October 11.
A 23 Race Calendar
The addition of the Malaysian Grand Prix makes F1 2026 a 23 race calendar.
However, uncertainty remains over the last two decider races of the season in Qatar and Abu Dhabi because of the ongoing escalating tensions in the middle east.
The FIA World Motor Sport Council is yet to give it's final approval after the completion of all the necessary agreements.
The race also creates a unique situation in F1 history with one country hosting the race which is named after another.
