Ruben Amorim has hinted that Manchester United may not sign a new striker in the current transfer window.
The Red Devils have already signed Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha this summer, while Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee were competing for starts up front last term.
United have been linked with Viktor Gyokeres, Ollie Watkins and Benjamin Sesko, after Hojlund and Zirkzee combined for just seven Premier League goals in 2024-25.
Despite the speculation, Amorim believes he already has enough attacking talent for United to improve on last season's meagre return of 44 league goals.
“They [Cunha and Mbeumo] can play as a striker,” said Amorim.
“We have Josh, we have Rasmus. Our focus is to improve the connection between them. I don't know if the position is there for them.
"They have to work. They have other players that are fighting for that position. But again, I'm really pleased.
“They [Cunha and Mbeumo] proved the qualities that they have. They are really humble, that is really important, and the best thing is that they chose to be here.
“They had other options, Champions League options, they read everything people say about our club at the moment, but they chose to be here and that is a key point for me.”
Although both Cunha and Mbeumo can lead the attacking line, they are far more accustomed to playing on the wings.
Cunha played just 12% of his 2,600 Premier League minutes through the middle last season, while 17% of Mbeumo’s 3,415 minutes were as a central striker.
Most of Cunha’s minutes (69%) came on the left side, and Mbeumo’s on the right (81%), but both were more prolific for their former sides than Hojlund and Zirkzee.
Mbeumo scored 20 league goals and registered seven assists for Brentford last campaign, while Cunha chipped in with 15 goals and six assists for Wolves.
Cunha (+6.37) and Mbeumo (+7.74) both overachieved their expected goals figures, unlike their new team-mates, while they finished 71.4% and 55% of their big chances respectively, compared to the 33.3% of Hojlund and 22.2% of Zirkzee.
