Brentford will travel to Barcelos to face Portuguese Primeira Liga side Gil Vicente in a pre-season friendly fixture on Friday, 25 July. The match is part of Brentford’s pre-season training camp in Portugal.

Gil Vicente endured a difficult Primeira Liga 2024-25 season, finishing 13th with 34 points from eight wins and 10 draws. The Galos made several key signings during the summer transfer window, including Ghislain Konan and Martin Fernandez

Cesar Peixoto’s side are scheduled to face Nacional before taking on Brentford. The Bees finished 10th in the English Premier League 2024-25 but have since seen key departures, including top forward Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United and manager Thomas Frank. Their most notable signing is former England international Jordan Henderson.

They will look to get their squad in order for the upcoming friendly match, which is the result of a strategic partnership deal signed with Gil Vicente in March 2025. Earlier, both sides faced each other in a closed-door friendly, which the former won. New manager Keith Andrews will aim for a victory ahead of the start of their Premier League campaign on 17 August.
