Bayern Munich are in the market for defensive reinforcements after losing several key players through injury; their search has led them to Arsenal and Japan star Takehiro Tomiyasu, whom they intend to bring to the Allianz Arena in the January 2024 transfer window. As per Sky Germany, Bayern are keen on the versatile defender - who can play as a centreback, right-back, and left-back when required, but are likely to face resistence from Arsenal, who value the 25-year-old highly. (Football News)

Sky report that Bayern are aware of Arsenal's intent to hold onto Tomiyasu through the season and will continue to keep a close eye on his situation at the Emirates - and may even return for him in the Summer 2024 transfer market.

Now 25, Tomiyasu began his career with Avispa Fukoka before joining Belgian outfit Sint-Truiden in 2018. A breakout season in Belgium saw the defender earn a transfer to Serie A side Bologna, whom he represented for two seasons before joining Arsenal for a reported 17 million pound fee. Tomiyasu debuted for the Gunners after the season had already begun and was named the club's Men's Player of the Month for September.

As of November 2023, Tomiyasu has made 69 appearances for Arsenal across all competitions and scored one goal, which came in a 5-0 win over Sheffield United on October 28, 2023.
