India Under-19 cricket team skipper Ayush Mhatre continued his brilliant batting form in the opening youth Test match against England Under-19 on Day 1 at the Kent County Cricket Ground in Beckenham on Saturday.

He has added more than 150 runs for the second-wicket partnership with Vihaan Malhotra after the early dismissal of opener batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi (14 runs off 13 balls).

Mhatre has batted with a strike rate of around 90 and showed brilliant control in his shots. He managed to get boundaries in between, which allowed his partner Malhotra to take his time and play his shots whenever any bad delivery came his way.

He targeted James Minto first and hit a couple of sixes when he came to bowl in the 16th over in the first session. He shifted gears after the lunch break and rushed to his century in just 107 balls. He reached his milestone in the 36th over, on the first delivery of Archie Vaughan.

Mhatre plays for the Mumbai cricket team in domestic cricket and is one of the best youngsters in India right now. He was given the India U19 captaincy after his eye-catching performance in the Indian Premier League 2025.

Performance In IPL 2025

Mhatre could not convert his ton into a big score as Archie Vaughan dismissed him on the very first delivery of his next over (38th). He made 102 runs off 115 balls.
