Rohit wen on to equal the record held by West Indies icon Brian Lara between October 1998-May 199. This also marked India's 15th consecutive toss defeat.

Rohit's streak of losing tosses in ODI matches began with the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia in Ahmedabad.

Speaking on the final, New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner won the toss and opted to bat against India in the Champions Trophy final on Sunday.

New Zealand made one change, bringing in Nathan Smith for injured Matt Henry, while India named an unchanged playing eleven.
