India At Asian Games 2023, Day 12: Gold In Men's And Women's Team Compound Archery, Squash Mixed Doubles - As It Happened

Day 12 saw India bag gold in the women's compound archery event. Dipika Pallikal and Harinder Pal Sandhu also clinched gold in the squash mixed doubles final. The trio of Prathamesh Jawkar, Ojas Deotale, Abhishek Verma won gold in men's team compound archery. However, the Indian women's hockey team lost in the semi-final to China in the Women's Hockey event. Antim Panghal clinched bronze whereas badminton pair of Satwik-Chirag have assured India of a medal at the Games. Indian pair of Satwik-Chirag are through to the semis and confirm a medal for India. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy - Chirag Shetty won 21-7 21-9.

Satwik-Chirag have taken the first game 21-7 and are a game away from the semifinal.

Under-20 world champion Antim Panghal wins her bronze medal bout against Mongolia's Ochir Bolortuya 3-1.

4:11pm: Men's Squash - Silver For Ghosal
Not to be for Saurav Ghosal as the young NG Eain Yow gets the better of the higher-ranked Indian. Ghosal loses the final 11-9, 9-11, 5-11, 7-11 to end with a silver medal. This is his second men's singles silver at the Asiad after one in Incheon 2014.  

3:31pm: Men's Squash - Ghosal Final Underway
Saurav Ghosal is currently playing his men's singles gold medal match against Malaysia's NG Eain Yow. He has won one game and is leading 6-5 in the second. It is a best-of-five match. Ghosal is the top seed and is expected to bring India's fourth gold of the day.

3:20pm: Wrestling - Naveen Loses Bronze Bout
Naveen has lost his bronze medal bout against Korea’s Kim Minseok in the men’s Greco-Roman 130kg event. No medal unfortunately for Naveen.

3:09pm: Women's Hockey - India Lose SF
India have been beaten comprehensively by China. The crushing 4-0 loss has dashed the team's gold medal hopes, but they will look to brush off the disappoitment and fight for bronze on Saturday.

2:20pm: Gold No. 3 In Compound Archery!
The Indian men have done it! They clinch the gold medal, making it India's third compound archery gold after the women's team and mixed doubles triumphs. 

1:37pm: Compound Archery - Men's Team In Final
The Indian men have picked up where the women left, and have made their way into the compound archery summit clash with a 234-224 win against Chinese Taipei. They will face the formidable South Korea in the final.  

1:25pm: Women's Hockey - India Vs China SF
Time now for the all-important women's hockey semifinal between India and China. The Indian women would want to emulate their male counterparts, who beat South Korea 5-3 in a close last-four contest on Wednesday to march into the final.

12:50pm: Compound Archery - Men's Team In SFs
In pursuit of a podium finish following their women counterparts' gold medal, the Indian men's compound archery team comprising Abhishek Verma, Ojas Deotale and Prathamesh Jawkar posted a 235-221 victory to reach the semi-finals. The trio will take on Chinese Taipei in the last-four stage match.

12:10pm: Gold In Squash Mixed Doubles!
Dipika-Harinder get the gold! After an intensely fought second game, the Indian duo beats Aifa Azman Binti and Mohammad Syafiq Bin Mohd Kamal to clinch the mixed doubles gold medal. India's second gold in the day after the archery triumph.

11:50am: Squash - Mixed Doubles Final
Time now for the mixed doubles final. India's Dipika Pallikal and Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu are in action against Malaysia's Aifa Azman Binti and Mohammad Syafiq Bin Mohd Kamal. India win the first game 11-10 to take a step towards the gold.

11:33am: Badminton - Prannoy Wins!
Prannoy clutches victory from the jaws of defeat. Down 18-20 in the decider, the 31-year-old saves two match points and converts his first to edge out Lee Zii Jia in the quarterfinal and assure India of a badminton singles medal.  

11:18am: Badminton - Prannoy In Close Fight
Prannoy is battling it out against Lee Zi Jia in the men's singles quarterfinal. He leads 12-11 in the decider after winning the first game and losing the second.

11:12am: Wrestling Update
Indian grapplers Antim Panghal, Pooja Gehlot, Mansi and Naveen will contest bronze medal bouts later in the day after progressing through repechage/losing in semifinals.

10:31am: Badminton - Prannoy In Action
India's HS Prannoy is in action for his men's singles quarterfinal against Lee Zi Jia of Malaysia. Prannoy leads 18-16 in the first game.

9:34am: Gold No. 2 In Compound Archery!
The Indian women's team have brought home the gold medal, beating Chinese Taipei in the final 230-228. This is the second gold in compound archery after yesterday's mixed doubles triumph.  

9:02am: Wrestling - Pooja Enters SFs
Pooja Gehlot beats Mongolia’s Namuuntsetseg Tsogt-Ochir 5-2 in the women's freestyle 50kg category to advance to the semi-finals.

8:37am: Wrestling - Antim Loses
Antim Panghal loses her freestyle 53kg quarterfinal bout 0-6 against Japan's Akari Fujinami. She will now hope for the Japanese to reach the final, so as to compete in the repechage rounds for a bronze. 

8:28am: Men's Kabaddi - IND VS TPE
India are leading 17-4 with more than eight minutes to go in the first half against Chinese Taipei in their Group A match. Early days, but India poised to win this. Meeting with heavyweights Iran beckons. 

8:23am: Badminton - PV Sindhu Loses QF
PV Sindhu's campaign at the Asian Games ends with a 16-21, 12-21 women's singles quarterfinal loss to He Bingjiao. No medal for Sindhu, unfortunately.

8:18am: Compound Archery - Indian Women In Final!
The Indian women's team of Jyoti Surekha Vennam, Aditi Gopichand Swami and Parneet Kaur has beaten Indonesia 233-219 to enter the final and be assured of at least a silver medal.

Day 11 saw India surge ahead in the medal tally. Neeraj Chopra, Kishore Jena bagged gold and silver, respectively in the men's javelin throw final. Other athletics disciplines also went on a medal-winning spree. So far, India has won 18 gold medals - the most the contingent has won at a single Asian Games. This is the first time that India have gone past the 16-gold medal mark at Asian Games
