At the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023, Afghanistan cricket team punched above their weight as they managed to grab wins over the likes of England, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Most of the credit went to their coach Jonathan Trott but also former India player, Ajay Jadeja, who was involved with the Afghans in shaping their performance at the marquee tournament. Afghans came into the tourney as 'underdogs' but after an impressive show, they left the Indian shores with four fantastic victories. Moreover, their performance also earned them a spot in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

They secured a sixth spot in the points table and will play for the first time in a Champions Trophy event.

Furthermore, coach Jonathan Trott and skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi heaped praise on Jadeja's role in the team during the Cricket World Cup.

However, in a recent interview with Sports Tak, Jadeja who played 15 Tests and 196 ODIs for Team, was asked about taking up the coaching role for Pakistan cricket team.

"I am ready," said Jadeja.

"I shared my learnings with Afghans and I believe Pakistan were once like Afghanistan. You could say anything you wanted to in the face of your teammate," Jadeja added.

Pakistan cricket team are currently in Australia and will play three Test matches starting December 14 under the leadership of Shan Masood.
