The directive was issued a fortnight after the government suspended ‘graft-tainted’ gynaecologist Dr Jameela of Ernakulam General Hospital, two days before her scheduled retirement.
A few days after this incident, a hospital in Kannoor was ransacked by an irate mob after a Congress worker died reportedly due to the hospital’s negligence.
The IMA had then warned that such incidents would be opposed by the medical fraternity. But now the new directive from the dgp has forced it to rush to the court for relief.
