Tamil Nadu: CM Stalin Lays Foundation Stone Of Two Flyovers In Madurai

It has been told that the flyovers will be built at a cost of ₹275.50 crore. The primary objective behind the construction of the two flyovers is to decongest vehicular traffic at the two important junctions.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday laid foundation stones for the construction of two flyovers . As per media reports, the two locations of the flyovers include Melamadai junction on Sivaganga Road, and Goripalayam junction on Alagarkoil Road in Madurai.

It has been told that the flyovers will be built at a cost of ₹275.50 crore. The primary objective behind the construction of the two flyovers is to decongest vehicular traffic at the two important junctions.

Minister for Highways A.V. Velu, and other Ministers, including P. Moorthi and Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, were present on the occasion.

As per media reports, the Medamadai flyover on Sivaganga Road, spanning 1.1 km, will be constructed over Melamadai junction at a cost of ₹118.79 crore.

The bridge, with 29 spans, will have a two-lane carriageway of 7.5 metres each, separated by a median.

The flyover at Goripalayam will facilitate smooth flow of traffic from Tamukkam junction to East Veli Street in Nelpettai, spanning 1.3 km, including a new bridge across the Vaigai river parallel to the existing Albert Victor bridge.

The flyover will also have a 700-metre arm which will branch off from Goripalayam junction over Palam Station Road to Sellur.

The flyover, including the Sellur arm, wil have one-way carriageway. The main carriageway, including the bridge across Vaigai river, will have a width of 11 metres and the Sellur arm will be 7.5 metres wide.
