For retired workers who have not vacated their residences, the government is constructing flats in the Nilgiris district through the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board. The retirees have contributed to the cost of the flats, with the government's contribution of Rs 13.46 crores. This marks an ongoing effort by the Tamil Nadu government to improve the social and economic status of tea estate workers.

The demands of the Tamil Nadu Tea Estate Associations have not gone unnoticed. The monthly allowance for these workers has been raised to Rs. 375, addressing a long-standing request. Furthermore, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has taken steps to meet the demands of the workers, including the provision of a revised daily wage.
