The security forces thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the elimination of two unidentified terrorists on Wednesday.

Vigilant troops detected suspicious movement near the LoC, leading to an exchange of gunfire as security forces confronted the intruders. The operation has so far resulted in the death of two militants.

While authorities emphasize a significant reduction in infiltration attempts, this year has seen persistent efforts by terrorists to breach Indian territory. On October 26, five terrorists were neutralized in the Macchil sector of Kupwara district. On October 22, two militants were killed in an unsuccessful infiltration bid in the Uri sector of the Baramulla district.

In June, a total of 11 infiltrators were shot dead, including four in the Macchil sector and five in the adjacent Jumagund area of the Keran sector.
