DMK has voted against CAB. How can you discriminate among refugees on the basis of caste, race or religion? Even in so-called Muslim countries, certain groups of Muslims are ­persecuted and forced to flee. It’s wrong to say only Hindus, Sikhs or Jains are persecuted.

In Sri Lanka, discrimination happens on the basis of race and language. Tamils who fled persecution have taken shelter here. We do not differentiate between Indian and Sri Lankan Tamils. They have been here for 35-40 years. The second generation is born here; they do not know any other country. You do not want to recognise and accept them?
