A massive 6,000 kg and 90-foot long iron bridge that was placed over a drain in a busy and well-lit area in Malad in Mumbai got stolen. The company filed a police complaint after it was found missing a few days later and four people involved in the case were arrested.

Adani Electricity placed the massive bridge to move power cables in the western suburb's Malad (west) area and later it was found in a dismantled condition.

The stolen iron bridge was a temporary one that was located elsewhere after a permanent bridge was built above the drain a few months ago. It was the locals who found the temporary bridge missing. The company filed a police complaint on June 26 as the iron bridge worth Rs 2 lakh went missing,

How was the bridge stolen?

The police in its investigation to find the stolen bridge found out that it was last seen in the initial location on June 6. The area was reportedly busy and well-lit which shocked several people to gauge how was it possible to steal that massive structure.

The exact spot of the bridge did not have any CCTV cameras thus the Mumbai police scanned through the cameras installed in nearby areas where they found a heavy vehicle moving towards the concerned bridge with gas cutter machines on June 11.

An official told PTI, "The vehicle had gas-cutting machines which were used to dismantle the bridge and steal iron weighing 6,000 kg."
