In a distressing incident in Nawada Khurd village, Hapur district, Uttar Pradesh, a young unmarried woman is battling critical injuries, with over 70 percent burns on her body, after being allegedly set on fire by her family members. The gruesome act was purportedly carried out by the victim's mother and brother after discovering her pregnancy, which resulted from a relationship with a young man from the same village, India Today reported.

The victim, now in a critical condition, has been urgently transferred to a higher medical facility for advanced treatment. Law enforcement swiftly intervened, taking the woman's mother and brother into custody as part of an ongoing investigation. The perpetrators reportedly took the victim to a nearby forest on September 28, where they doused her in petrol before igniting the horrific act.
