Delhi: 10 Injured As Stampede-Like Situation Breaks Out At Railway Station Due To Maha Kumbh Crowd

It has been reported that a large number of Maha Kumbh devotees gathered at platform number 13 and 14 to catch their trains at the New Delhi Railway Station.

At least 10 people were injured as a stampede-like situation broke out at New Delhi Railway Station on Saturday. Delhi Fire Service officials told ANI that a call was received from the New Delhi Railway station following which 4 fire tenders rushed to the site. The incident reportedly took place at around 10 pm, causing panic among passengers.

The exact cause of the stampede remains unclear, but initial reports suggest overcrowding due to train services for the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.

According to a report by India Today, four women fainted due to suffocation from overcrowding as a Maha Kumbh crowd led to the stampede. All four of them were promptly hospitalized after they fainted.

It has been reported that a large number of Maha Kumbh devotees gathered at platform number 13 and 14 to catch their trains at the New Delhi Railway Station.

Authorities immediately dispatched rescue teams and four fire tenders were rushed to the site to assist in the relief efforts, DFS chief Atul Garg said.
