The Delhi Police has recovered the body of Lakshya Chauhan, the son of an assistant commissioner of police, who was allegedly pushed into a canal in Haryana by two of his friends over a financial dispute.

The discovery comes after Lakshya had been missing since January 22.

On January 28, the police apprehended the main suspect in the case, Vikas Bharadwaj.

Lakshya, a mid-thirties practising lawyer, had attended a wedding in Bhiwani, Haryana, on January 22 in an SUV with two others, Vikas Bharadwaj, a clerk in Tis Hazari Court, and Abhishek. However, Lakshay did not return home, which led the ACP to file a missing person report on January 23, initiating a search operation.

On January 26, the police arrested Abhishek, aged 19, from Jawahar Camp in Narela, Delhi.

The investigation revealed that Vikas had informed Abhishek that Lakshya owed him money, and when asked for repayment, Lakshya allegedly misbehaved.

Subsequently, Vikas and Abhishek devised a plan to eliminate Lakshya, deciding to throw him into the Munak canal in Haryana.

Meeting at Mukarba Chowk on January 22 afternoon, Vikas and Abhishek drove to Sonipat in Lakshay's car. Abhishek informed the police that on their way back from the function in the early hours of January 23, they pushed Lakshay into a canal near Panipat and drove away.
