The Gujarat government’s first bold step in power reforms has met with stiff opposition. Higher tariff for the agricultural sector has, at last, given state Congress chief Shankersinh Vaghela an issue to embarrass the government. He has already held a massive farmers’ convention in Gandhinagar and announced the beginning of a pitched agitation from August 8. To foil the stir, the government has started an ad blitz to explain to people that the tariff isn’t as high as it is made out to be.
