Guess who will be designing your future cars for General Motors (GM)? The techies of Bangalore. The US automobile major has decided to open a technology development outfit in the garden city. This is GM’s first R&D lab outside the US. The lab will design manufacturing processes and automotive electronic parts. More importantly, it’ll design vehicles and conduct research in materials used for manufacture. This was announced by Alan Taub, GM’s R&D executive director. Over the next three years GM will invest $60 million in the lab that will employ 300 engineers and researchers.
