The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged Andhra Pradesh liquor scam recovered ₹11 crore in cash during a raid at a farmhouse on the outskirts of Hyderabad in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to The Hindu, the cash was found packed in 12 cartons at a property located in Kacharam village, Shamshabad mandal, in Telangana’s Rangareddy district. The operation was carried out based on a confessional statement made by one of the arrested accused, who was in police custody following the issuance of a non-bailable warrant by the ACB Special Court.

The Sulochana Farmhouse, where the cash was recovered, is owned by T. Vijayender Reddy, who is a director at a private hospital in Hyderabad, according to The Hindu.

Investigators are currently examining whether the money is linked to illicit proceeds from the liquor scam in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, or other states.

Police officials involved in the investigation said the money had been concealed at the location and would be produced before the court. “We have seized ₹11 crore packed in cartons and hidden at the farmhouse,” a senior officer told The Hindu.

The SIT has so far arrested 12 individuals in connection with the case and indicated that further raids are planned in Hyderabad and Vijayawada.
