The annual Hindu pilgrimage of Amarnath Yatra is set to start on Saturday, July 1, in Kashmir. Over 3 lakh people have so far registered for the Yatra. The pilgrimage would be on for 62 days, making it the longest-running pilgrimage so far. The first batch of pilgrims are leaving for Kashmir from Jammu’s Bhagwati Nagar base camp on Friday. The pilgrims go to Amarnath Cave at Mount Amarnath in Kashmir's Anantnag district at an altitude of 5,486 metres.
