The United Kingdoms Court on Monday sentenced an Indian-origin psychiatrist in London to six years in jail on the account of running a child sex abuse website.

According to the reports, the psychiatrist is identified as Dr Kabir Garg, aged 33 who lived in Lewisham in South-east London. The National Crime Agency of the UK found him as one of the operators of the website called 'The Annex'. Reports also suggest that the website had over 90,000 members.

The Woolwich Crown Court sentenced Garg on June 23 and his name will remain on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

The reports further said that Garg had pleaded guilty in January this year for eight charges. The said charges include "one count of facilitating the exploitation of children, three counts of distributing indecent images of children, three counts of making indecent images of children and one count of possession of a prohibited image of children," as stated by the NCA.

According to the reports, Adam Priestley from NCA said in a statement, "Garg was involved in facilitating child sexual abuse on a significant scale. He used the dark web to access a global community of paedophiles sharing and discussing horrific crimes against children."

Priestley further added, "There are hundreds of thousands of members of such sites on the dark web, but few of them are prepared to commit to being a member of staff, which involves dedicating a lot of time for no payment."

The NCA in their statement also added, "Officers arrested Garg at his flat in Lewisham in November 2022 as part of a coordinated operation with international partners, at a time when the site was open on his laptop with Garg logged into his moderator account."

According to the reports, it was revealed in the investigation that the team Annex was running like a company with 30 administrators where Garg was initially a member and then gradually with time and effort was made into a moderator. Reportedly Garg was responsible for enforcing rules on the website and removing the members who did not follow them.
