Gal Gadot is keeping the hope for "Wonder Woman 3" alive despite major changes at DC Studios . In an interview while promoting her upcoming Netflix action film "Heart of Stone", Gadot alluded to hearing from new DC execs James Gunn and Peter Safran about making a third "Wonder Woman" film.
"I love portraying Wonder Woman," Gadot said of the third film. "It's very near and dear to my heart." "According to what I have heard from James and Peter, we are going to collaborate on 'Wonder Woman 3'."
Gadot played Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder's DC Universe, first appearing in "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice" before heading her own two independent films, "Wonder Woman" and "Wonder Woman 1984". Gadot's Wonder Woman also made appearances in "Justice League" and "Shazam! Fury of the Gods". Patty Jenkins directed her two solo "Wonder Woman" movies. When Gunn and Safran were named the new heads of DC Studios, they were working on "Wonder Woman 3" together.
Last December, it was revealed that Gadot and Jenkins' "Wonder Woman 3" project had fallen apart when Warner Bros. executives rejected Jenkins' treatment for the sequel. Jenkins announced his departure from the project publicly. The announcement came shortly after Gunn and Safran took over DC Studios and announced their plans to restructure the DC Universe, leading to speculation that Jenkins had rejected efforts to rework "Wonder Woman 3" to fit within the DC Universe.
The actress also talked about the new Superman casting and said, "I saw that they were testing, doing different screen tests, but I don't know who got it, but everyone seemed super legit and talented and, like, great." "So I'm pleased for them. It's a massive undertaking and an exciting start for any actor, and I wish whoever it is the best of luck and enjoy the trip." On August 11, "Heart of Stone," her new film, will be available on Netflix.
