'Kajol Was The First And The Last Choice For Salaam Venky': Producer Varsha Kukreja

Initially titled ‘The Last Hurrah’, the final title of the film was decided to be ‘Salaam Venky’ as the producer, along with the team, felt it justifies the theme and ethos of the film very well. The film, which is being directed by Revathy, went on the floors a couple of weeks back.

Entrepreneur Varsha Kukreja is making her debut as a producer with ‘Salaam Venky’, a film which is headlined by Kajol. Though the actress is known to be selective about her films, she said an instant yes to this emotional drama that is based on a real-life story. Varsha would forever be grateful to Kajol for being a part of ‘Salaam Venky’ as she couldn’t imagine the film without her.

“Kajol was the first and the last choice for ‘Salaam Venky’. There are many incredible actresses in the industry but whoever from the team read the script was of the opinion that if there is one person who can do justice to this script, it’s Kajol. Sujata, the character Kajol plays in the film, is very special and needed an actress of her caliber. I am sure once the film releases, it will be counted as one of the best performances of her career”, says the debutante producer.

“When Kajol agreed to do the film, I became a little emotional as it is my first film as a producer and she has always been one of my favourite actresses. Some of my favourite performances of hers have been from films like ‘Yeh Dillagi’, ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and ‘Dushman’, among others. Her presence has added tremendous value to our film. She is not only a gifted actress but an incredible human being as well”, says Varsha with a smile.
