Vivek Oberoi Recalls Slipping Into Depression After People Said 'Your Career Is Over': My Mental Health Was Very Bad

Actor Vivek Oberoi made his Bollywood debut with Ram Gopal Varma's 'Company' which was a hit. Post that he starred in films like 'Saathiya', 'Masti', 'Yuva', 'Omkara' and 'Shootout at Lokhandwala' among others. Vivek Oberoi's journey in showbiz was not easy. He went through a lot in his professional life. Post delivering several hits, later his films didn’t perform well at the box office. Vivek, who has made his OTT debut with Rohit Shetty's ‘Indian Police Force,’ has recalled the tough times, when he had to deal with stress and depression. 

In an interview with Mirchi Plus, when Vivek was asked about the advice he would give ‘young Vivek Oberoi’. To which he replied, “My advice to him would be ‘Don’t take stress about anything and when you feel that it is the end of the world, it is not because everything is transient. Nothing is permanent. Today there is success, tomorrow it is gone. Chill, relax and enjoy.”

The actor also said that he wasted so much time taking stress and pressure. He continued, ''I slipped into depression and my mental health was very bad at that time when I dealt with a lot of issues. For the first time when people told me ‘Bro, your career is over,’ I was in very much stress. I thought I had just started, how can it end.”

Vivek also said that now he has stopped taking stress. “But with god’s grace, even today, the work I get is more than the work I am able to do. I have to reject things because sometimes it doesn’t suit me as an actor or it doesn’t challenge me as an actor,” he added.

On the work front, Vivek is seen as a police officer in 'Indian Police Force' also co-starring Shilpa Shetty and Sidharth Malhotra. It released on Prime Video on January 19.
