IPL founder Lalit Modi dismissed reports of his participation in Bigg Boss 20 as fake news on social media platform X.
Modi's legal firm Hirani & Associates issued a formal notice warning media outlets and digital platforms to withdraw the baseless claims immediately.
The legal notice clarified that no representative from the reality show had approached Modi, nor is anyone authorised to represent him.
Indian Premier League (IPL) founder Lalit Modi posted on X (formerly Twitter) early Saturday morning (August 15, 2026) to deny rumours that he was participating in Bigg Boss 20. The response follows false reports from social media accounts and publications a day prior that claimed his entry had been confirmed.

Modi rejected the speculation outright. "FAKE NEWS. PERIOD. I have NOT been approached for Bigg Boss 20. I am NOT participating in Bigg Boss 20. And I have NO intention of doing so. Amazing how a completely fabricated story can become ["news"] without anyone bothering to ask the person concerned," he said.
Legal notice issued
Modi attached a formal legal notice issued by his lawyers, Hirani & Associates, warning the media outlets and social media accounts that carried the false news. "Perhaps next time, verify before you publish," the notice stated.
The legal notice addressed the unsubstantiated claims directly. "Our Client hereby clarifies that the said reports are false, baseless and mischievous," Hirani & Associates stated. The firm clarified that no channel representative had approached Modi and no person was authorised to represent him regarding the reality show.
The legal document highlighted that Modi had not confirmed his participation to any publication. The firm informed that his name, image, photograph and voice vest exclusively in him, barring anyone from implying an association with the programme.
The lawyers urged all platforms to remove the articles immediately. "The press, media houses, digital platforms and members of the public at large are requested to take note of this clarification, to refrain from publishing, circulating, repeating or reproducing any such reports, and to recall, withdraw or take down any such content already published."
