Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda starrer Saiyaara is breaking records at the box office. It has become a rage and is all set to enter the Rs 300 crore club soon. The Mohit Suri-directed film has received praise from all across the nation. From fans, critics to celebs, everyone has been lauding the film for its story, direction, performances and the soulful music. The songs have struck a chord with the music lovers, especially the title track, composed by Tanishk Bagchi. It holds the 4th spot in Spotify global list, and is also reigning the Top 50 chart of the audio streaming platform in India.

Amid the success, it has faced criticism for allegedly copying the tune of the song from One Direction’s Night Changes and Jubin Nautiyal’s Humnava Mere. Here's what Tanishk has to say on the claims.

Tanishk told India Today that whatever he does, people will have something to say "because they don't have [anything better to do]." The composer also said that people are looking for opportunities to put him down. "But ultimately, the song will go wherever it's destined to, and that's what's happening with Saiyaara too. As for the comparisons, if you look at the melody, the chords are the same. The A minor scale has just about 3-4 chords but every melody has a different soul. That doesn't mean that anything was stolen. Even if you can do that, it's really difficult to make it a hit," he said.

He denied stealing anything. "The similarities are fine, it can happen, but it's not like we did it on purpose. Idhar se utha ke udhar nahi kiya (we didn't pick and add anything). We worked on the emotion of the song, and that worked. That's the magic of the track Saiyaara," Bagchi added.

Saiyaara completed 11 days of its release on Monday, and the total box office collection stands at Rs 256.75 crore.
