One of the highly-anticipated Telugu films of 2025, Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 – Sword vs Spirit—which marks Pawan Kalyan's first film since becoming the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, released on July 24. The film also marks his return to the big screen after two years. Krish Jagarlamudi and Jyothi Krisna-directorial had a powerful start at the box office.

HHVM is Pawan Kalyan’s career best opener. It earned an estimated Rs 31.50 crore net in India on day 1, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The action-drama collected Rs 12.7 crore from premiere shows on Wednesday, taking the total earnings to Rs 44.20 crore net.

The film had an overall 57.39% Telugu occupancy on Thursday. Throughout the day the occupancy rates of the Pawan Kalyan starrer remained solid. The afternoon and the evening shows had occupancy rates of 45.89% and 58.12%, while the morning and night shows performed even better with 63.52% and 62.01%.

Hari Hara Veera Mallu has surpassed the first-day collections of Kalyan's previous releases: Vakeel Saab earned Rs 40.10 crore, Bheemla Nayak collected Rs 37.15 crore, and Bro minted Rs 30.5 crore. However, it has failed to beat the day 1 collection of his nephew Ram Charan’s film Game Changer, which collected Rs 51 crore.

HHVM has also performed better than Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Daaku Maharaaj, which raked in Rs 25.35 crore on day 1, Venkatesh’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam, which collected Rs 23 crore, and Dhanush’s Kuberaa which earned Rs 14.75 crore.

The film received mixed reviews by netizens. While some praised Pawan Kalyan's performance, it left many disappointed. A section of netizens are also disappointed with the VFX and screenplay.
