Sai Kabir Srivastva’s ‘Tiku Weds Sheru’ is finally awaiting its release after multiple delays. Now, the film has got embroiled into controversy for starring 49-year-old actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui romancing 21-year-old Avneet Kaur. The recently released trailer, which unveiled a scene of Siddiqui kissing Kaur, has generated some strong opinions, and many expressed their discomfort and denouncing the portrayal as “gross”.

Meanwhile, Siddiqui himself has now defended himself amid the controversy and, when asked about being paired with Kaur, he said, “Why will there be a problem?” He told IndiaToday.in: “The problem is that the young men have no romance left. We are from the times when romance was something else. We would be in love and be in ‘ishq’ for years.”

“Today, Shah Rukh Khan continues to do romantic roles because the young generation is ‘nalli’ (useless). They don’t know romance,” the Gangs of Wasseypur actor pointed out. “Everything today happens on WhatsApp, be it love, or breakup. There is a reason behind this. People who have lived in romance can do romance. Who else will do it,” he further questioned.

Bankrolled by Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika Films, the film is slated to have its worldwide premiere on June 23. It will be available for streaming on Prime Video.
