‘Splitsvilla 12’s Riya Kishanchandani recently tied the knot with the popular Bollywood choreographer, Mudassar Khan. Ever since she shared the pictures of their nikah ceremony on social media, fans began asking them about their inter-faith marriage. In a recent conversation, Riya opened up about her marriage and said the religious difference did not bother her.
Speaking to Pinkvilla, Riya revealed how the couple took their relationship to the next level. She revealed that they had started as friends and gradually, this friendship bloomed into love. Riya said, “Mudassar wasn't looking for a relationship. He was at the place where he wanted to get married and settle down. In fact, I was the one who initiated that we take our friendship to the next level. While I'm quite young, I didn't feel even one percent apprehensive about deciding to take the plunge. I was at an extremely secure and happy place with him and wanted that for the rest of my life.”

In the same conversation, Riya revealed that they had not been dating for long. Their friendship began in 2023. After their parents agreed to the marriage, the couple had an intimate engagement ceremony in September this year.
Riya also revealed that there is no pressure on her from her in-laws to convert to Islam. She said, “Religion wasn't the barrier for us. There are many successful relationships where couples have their individual opinions. There's no pressure from my in-law's side.”
She mentioned that when she announced the marriage, she faced backlash and was trolled. However, her fans supported her and sent her congratulatory messages. Riya also revealed that Salman Khan had attended their wedding.
