Shane Warne:The best thing that's happened to the game for very many, many years. There is no doubt in my mind that Shane is the best leg-spinner, of his age, I've seen.
Best batsmen:Brian Lara and (Sachin) Tendulkar are probably the two best batsmen in the world today.
Best all-rounder:Gary Sobers is undoubtedly the best cricketer I ever set eyes on.
The best bowlers:The fastest bowler I have ever seen was Frank Tyson. He wasn't as good a bowler as Harold (Larwood), but he was tremendously fast. Dennis Lillee has probably the bestrecord. But the greatest he had ever played against or seen is Bill O'Reilly.

His success:I saw much better batsmen than I was. Lots of them ... they just kept getting out.
Marriage to Jessie: I think I fell in love with her the day she came to live with us when I was about 12 years of age.
His last innings Test duck:I’m very sorry I made a duck. I’d have been glad if I had made those four extra runs to have an average of hundred. I didn’t know it at the time and I don’t think the Englishmen knew it either. I think if they had known it they may have been generous enough to let me get four. Some people said I got out because I had tears in my eyes. Of course, that's rubbish.

Bodyline:It was not banned by the laws of cricket, but it was what you would call 'not in the spirit of the game'.
The 1932 English team:I never spoke to (captain Douglas) Jardine. Never spoke a word to him on the whole tour, as I remember. I never spoke to Harold (Larwood) either.
The Trevor Chappell underarm incident against New Zealand: The less said about that the better. I didn't enjoy it at all.

Captaincy:A good captain must be a fighter; confident but not arrogant, firm but not obstinate; able to take criticism without letting it unduly disturb him, for he is sure to get it - and unfairly, too.
Politics:Nothing would have persuaded me to go into politics. The lifestyle wouldn't appeal to me.
Wanted to be remembered for:Integrity.
Batting: Every ball's the first ball whether I've just come to the wicket or reached 200. And I never consider the possibility that anybody will get me out.

Cricket:I never wanted to become a professional.I played cricket because I loved it, and not for a living.
