The manufacturing of Covid-19 vaccines on a large-scale in the country fulfills Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat', Union minister Prakash Javadekar said on Saturday.
Javedkar said India had become a global leader in Covid-19 vaccine manufacturing and had successfully turned the challenge of the pandemic into an opportunity.
The country has exported Covishield, manufactured by Serum Institute of India, and Bharat Biotech's Covaxin vaccines to some countries, the minister informed.
"This is nothing but fulfillment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat," he said.
Javadekar was speaking at a function in which a school was renamed after SII chairperson Cyrus Poonawala.
