With coronavirus cases showing no signs of abating in Delhi and the positivity rate remaining high, the Delhi government on Sunday extended the lockdown by another week – Till May 3.
The Maharashtra government has further tightened coronavirus restrictions – Public and private transport now allowed only for essential services and emergencies and 14-day mandatory home quarantine has been suggested for people travelling inter-district.
Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope had also urged the Uddhav-led state government to announce a complete lockdown in the state from today.
Goa, which is India’s smallest state and a hugely popular tourist destination, had 9,300 active cases of Covid-19 of which 1,502 cases were new.
The state government also postponed the 10th and 12th standard examinations of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
India reported 2,59,170 fresh Covid cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 1,53,21,089, according to the Health Ministry data released on Tuesday.
The curfew will be effective from 7 pm to 5 am, officials said.
