Asian giants Pakistan will take on minnows Afghanistan in their first Group D fixture on Saturday at Buffalo Park in East London. Nepal and New Zealand are the other two teams in Group D making it more of an Asian countries group. (More Cricket News)
Pakistan had a very strong batting lineup and sharp bowling attack which they showcased in the recently concluded ACC U-19 Asia Cup 2023. Pakistan dominated the group stage fixtures and were the favourites to win the title. But the United Arab Emirates (UAE) defeated them by 11 runs in the semi-finals to halt their winning run.
Azan Awais and captain Saad Baig have played some remarkable innings before and the same would be expected of them. Afghanistan have a genuine pace attack with most of the all-rounders in their team which makes their batting lineup deep. Young Afghans had a miserable Asia Cup late last year and they would be eyeing for a fresh start when they take on Pakistan in their first match of the Under-19 World Cup.
