ONE Friday Fights 123 kept the tradition of delivering non-stop action as the world’s largest martial arts organization returned to the sacred grounds of Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 12-fight spectacle, which went down live in Asia primetime on September 5, featured promising stars seizing the spotlight while battle-tested veterans waged war in a main event thriller.
Before attention shifts to ONE Fight Night 35: Buntan vs. Hemetsberger on Prime Video in a couple of hours, here’s what went down inside the Mecca of Muay Thai this week.
Kulabdam Outpoints Lobo In Methodical Brawl
In the headline attraction, notorious knockout artists, “Left Meteorite” Kulabdam Sor Jor Piek Uthai and Felipe “Demolition Man” Lobo, went three hard rounds in a bantamweight Muay Thai battle that was entertaining from start to finish.
Kulabdam, a two-time Lumpinee Stadium World Champion, stalked his Brazilian prey like a patient predator. His thunderous low kicks chopped down Lobo’s base, each strike landing with the force of a sledgehammer.
Sensing danger from Thailand’s most feared left hand, the usually ferocious Lobo took a more calculated approach in round two.
“Demolition Man” circled desperately away from Kulabdam’s power side, but the 26-year-old powerhouse was relentless. A crushing left cross to the body almost folded Lobo in half, serving notice that the ‘Left Meteorite’ was locked and loaded.
Lobo’s desperation boiled over as he invited a brawl, but Kulabdam answered with ice-cold composure. Slicing knees from the clinch and bone-crushing strikes to the body turned his opposite number into a defensive shell.
That misery continued for the former ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title challenger in the final stanza. When the final bell rang, Kulabdam’s masterpiece of controlled violence earned him the unanimous decision, which improved his overall slate to 75-20.
Yunusov Stays Perfect In One-Sided Beatdown Of Donking
Russian phenom Rustam “Tomahawk” Yunusov carved up Donking Yotharakmuaythai like a master surgeon, dismantling the Thai with ultra-precision to preserve his pristine record in flyweight Muay Thai action.
From the opening bell, the 18-year-old destroyer unleashed hell. Yunusov peppered his foe with razor-sharp teeps that folded Donking’s body in half. The Thai warrior charged forward desperately, only to walk straight into a buzzsaw of lightning combinations.
“Tomahawk” turned the ring into his personal dance floor. His footwork was poetry in motion – in and out of range, always one step ahead of danger. When Donking pressed forward, the Russian’s spinning back fists found their mark with devastating accuracy.
Donking dragged the fight into the clinch, hoping to turn the tide in the phone booth in round two. Still, Yunusov had his foe’s number, answering with piercing knees to the body.
At the end of the nine-minute contest, Yunusov earned a lopsided unanimous decision that improved his flawless record to 14-0 overall and a perfect 5-0 on ONE Friday Fights.
Dedduanglek, Albadr, Hisai score memorable victories
In the co-main event, Dedduanglek TDed99 came away with a razor-close split-decision victory over Buakhiao Por Paoin.
Meanwhile, Ayad Albadr celebrated his 24th birthday in style by landing a ferocious uppercut to Nuapet Tded99 in 125-pound Muay Thai. That ferocious first-round finish marked his first knockout victory on the global stage.
In 129-pound Muay Thai, Sanit Lookthamsuea knocked down Eisaku “Speed Actor” Ogasawara twice with a barrage of unforgiving elbows for an impressive second-round finish.
Elsewhere, Japanese star Taimu Hisai had a debut to remember after unleashing a devastating arsenal to ouclass Zhang Jingtao via unanimous decision.
