After an explosive double-header weekend in Bangkok, the world’s largest martial arts organization will return to Thailand’s capital city on August 8 and pick up right where it left off.
ONE Friday Fights 119 goes down live in Asia primetime and features two dozen Muay Thai, kickboxing, and MMA fighters — most of whom will be battling for a US$100,000 contract and spot on ONE Championship’s main roster.
In the 140-pound Muay Thai main event, Thai striker Samingdam NF Looksuan steps into the ring to throw down with the man from Myanmar Sonrak Fairtex.
Throughout their respective ONE Friday Fights careers, both men have went to war with the top fighters of ONE Friday Fights, but this will be the first time they cross paths in the promotion — and redemption is on Sonrak’s mind.
Samingdam defeated Sonrak’s teammate Seksan Fairtex at ONE Friday Fights 53 in 2024 by unanimous decision. He’ll look to replicate that success against a man who’s eager to earn a contract and follow his superstar teammate Stamp Fairtex onto the ONE Championship main roster.
Khunsuek Superbon Training Camp — protege of ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Superbon — meets Iranian Hassan Vahdanirad in the co-main event featherweight Muay Thai battle.
Khunsuek plans to extend his winning streak to three in a row and inch closer to the life-changing spot on ONE Championship’s main roster. To do so, he’ll need to surpass Vahdanirad, who’s desperate to prove his debut loss against Shadow Singha Mawynn doesn’t sum up his abilities under the spotlight.
In the featured fight of the night, already-contracted Moroccan standout Walid Sakhraji debuts against Thailand’s Khunponnoi Sor Sommai, and this one promises to be a flyweight Muay Thai banger.
Sakhraji comes into the series riding the momentum he picked up Thailand’s local Muay Thai circuit. Khunponnoi, though, is an established fighter with six victories in ONE Friday Fights and won’t make Sakhraji’s welcome pleasant.
Elsewhere on the card, already-contracted Canadian Taylor McClatchie returns to the weekly platform for her 128-pound Muay Thai bout against Lebanese fighter Yara Saleh.
As for kickboxing, China’s Luo Chenghao takes on Japan’s Yumeto Mizuno at 117-pounds, and Turkey’s Cengiz Lale faces Japan’s Masahito Okuyama at bantamweight.
In the sole welterweight MMA duel of the evening, Turkish finisher Ruslan Arslangereev puts his pristine record on the line against undefeated Russian debutant Mikail Makrushin.
