The world’s largest martial arts organization returns to the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, July 18, for another explosive installment of its weekly Asia primetime event series.
ONE Friday Fights 116 will broadcast live from the legendary venue in Asia primetime. There, multiple athletes will vie for a life-changing US$100,000 contract and a spot on ONE Championship’s main roster. A handful of already-contracted stars will also feature on the international portion of the card — and the stakes are high.
In the main event, Thai-Malaysian striking sensation Adam Sor Dechapan will run back his previous encounter with French-Algerian phenom Nahyan Mohammed in an explosive 112-pound Muay Thai rematch. The 17-year-old Adam, who is the younger brother of Aliff Sor Dechapan, secured a split-decision victory over the 16-year-old Nahyan in their first meeting at ONE Friday Fights 107.
Both teenage prodigies will look to make a statement in their rematch, with Adam hoping to build on his impressive debut performance and Nahyan looking for redemption after coming up short in their initial clash. The winner will position themselves as one of the most promising young talents in the weekly series.
The co-main event features a compelling 142-pound Muay Thai showdown between Thai veteran Panrit Lukjaomaesaiwaree and Belarusian-French striker Antar Kacem. The 28-year-old Panrit enters the bout coming off a spectacular first-round knockout victory over Suksawat PK Saenchai.
The 26-year-old Kacem brings a three-fight winning streak and impressive 52 wins into the contest, including a highlight-reel knockout of Kongklai Sor Sommai that showcased his devastating power. With both fighters known for their finishing ability and explosive striking, this matchup promises fireworks from the opening bell.
In a featured 138-pound Muay Thai bout, Thai clinch specialist Superball TDed99 will face Russian knockout artist Ibragim Abdulmedzhidov in a clash of contrasting styles. The 28-year-old Superball is noted for his unpredictable kicking game and an ultra-aggressive fighting style, with more than 70 victories to his name against top-class opposition on the regional circuit in his native Thailand.
The former 122-pound Thailand Champion will look to utilize his relentless clinch work and devastating straight knees against the heavy-handed Abdulmedzhidov. The 30-year-old Russian has scored multiple knockout victories in ONE Friday Fights competition. This stylistic clash between the Thai’s technical precision and the Russian’s explosive power could steal the show.
Four Japanese stars will showcase their skills on the card, headlined by the bantamweight kickboxing clash between two contracted fighters.
Thailand’s former ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion Petchtanong Petchfergus, who carries a staggering 359-56-1 record and is currently ranked #3 in the bantamweight kickboxing division, will square off with K-1 Champion Yuki Yoza in a highly anticipated bout that could have World Title implications.
Already–contracted Tatsumitsu Wada, #2-ranked MMA atomweight contender Ayaka Miura, and Hiroba Minowa will also be in action, representing the depth of Japanese stars competing to hold down their spots in the promotion’s MMA division.
