Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai and chief coach Jonathan Trott were found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct in a T20I match against Afghanistan on Sunday, July 16.

In a rain-hit game, Trott showed discontentment towards the umpires’ decision for starting the game late.

During the 15th over, the Afghan gave a provocative send-off to dismissed Bangladesh batter Towhid Hridoy.

Trott breached article 2..8, which forbids public criticism or inappropriate comment about an umpire’s decision in an international match while Omarzai was guilty of breaching article 2.5, which prohibits provocative, aggressive actions against dismissed batters.

Both were fined 15 per cent of their match fees, and a demerit point was added to their names, their first violation of the ICC protocols in two years.

The duo accepted their respective sanctions by on-field umpires Sharfuddoula Ibene Shahid Saikat, Tanvir Ahmed, third umpire Masudur Rahman and fourth official Gazi Sohel.

The Tigers chased down a target of 119 set by Afghanistan in 16.1 overs, aided by a Shakib-al-Hasan 11-ball-18 cameo, wrapping up the T20I series 2-0.
