Indian pacer Avesh Khan has been added to the Indian Test squad for the 2nd match after captain Rohit Sharma complained of a lack of support for Jasprit Bumrah in the bowling department in the first Test. Gerald Coetzee has been out of the second Test due to pelvic inflammation.

South African veteran Dean Elgar is retiring from international cricket after this Test match and in the absence of full-time captain Temba Bavuma, he will be assuming the captain duties in his farewell Test at Cape Town. Bavuma is recovering from a hamstring strain he suffered while fielding in the first Test at Centurion. Zubayr Hamza has been included in the Proteas squad as a replacement for the injured Bavuma.
South Africa have a very good chance to win the match and series to give a proper send-off to their veteran captain. India, on the other hand, will try to learn from their mistakes in the first match and come out victorious in Newlands.
