Arsenal have strengthened their goalkeeping position with the signing of Anneke Borbe.

Borbe has signed a permanent deal with Arsenal, joining as a free agent following the expiration of her contract with Wolfsburg.

She is the third signing for the Gunners this transfer window, with Chloe Kelly and Taylor Hinds also joining for free.

Borbe joined Wolfsburg in 2023 but did not make her first-team debut until November 2024 in a 4-1 win over Mainz in the DFB-Pokal Frauen.

She established herself as the first-choice goalkeeper in February of this year, playing their final 14 games of the season in all competitions. She kept four clean sheets in 10 league appearances.

Borbe helped Wolfsburg finish second in the Bundesliga and reach the quarter-finals of the Women's Champions League, where they were knocked out by eventual runners-up Barcelona.

"I'm really proud to join this amazing club," Borbe told the club's website.

"It's amazing to have the opportunity to come and be a part of Arsenal at such an exciting time. I'm looking forward to getting down to work with my team-mates and, of course, playing in front of our incredible supporters at Emirates Stadium."

Reports suggest that Manuela Zinsberger could be set to leave the club this transfer window after she made just 18 appearances in all competitions last term.

Arsenal are also reportedly set to break the women's world transfer record with the £1m signing of Olivia Smith from Liverpool.
