Fiorentina have announced that Stefano Pioli has returned to the club for a second stint following his departure from Al-Nassr.

Pioli, who left the Saudi Pro League side last month, has agreed a three-year deal with the Serie A outfit he previously managed between 2017 and 2019.

The 59-year-old replaces Raffaele Palladino at the helm after he left the club in May, just three weeks after he signed a contract extension.

Pioli returns to the Italian top flight after just over a year away with Al-Nassr, where he won 28 of his 44 matches in all competitions (D9 L7).

The Italian enjoyed five successful years with AC Milan between 2019 and 2024, helping the Rossoneri to the Scudetto in 2021-22 before moving to Saudi Arabia.

Pioli has overseen 493 matches in Serie A, winning 217 (D132 L144), amassing 783 points at an average of 1.59 per match.

Fiorentina finished sixth in Serie A last season, confirming their place in the Conference League for the upcoming season.

"I am very happy that Stefano Pioli is the new coach of Fiorentina's first team," club president Rocco Commisso said in a statement.

"From the very first moment I spoke to him, I found a coach with great human values who is ready to do everything he can for this club and this city, which he knows very well and has a close bond with."

Pioli's appointment has now seen six teams that finished inside the top 10 in Serie A change their head coaches ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Ivan Juric has joined Atalanta, with Gian Piero Gasperini replacing Claudio Ranieri at Roma.

Lazio have welcomed Maurizio Sarri back to the club, while Massimiliano Allegri has also returned for a second stint at Milan.
