Kick-off for the Fulham vs Liverpool delayed by 15 minutes
Medical emergency at Craven Cottage announced as the reason
Match eventually ended in thrilling 2-2 draw
Kick-off for the Fulham vs Liverpool, Premier League 2025-26 clash on Sunday (January 4) was delayed by 15 minutes at Craven Cottage. A medical emergency at the stadium was the reason announced for it.
“Due to a medical incident in the crowd at Craven Cottage, kick-off for today’s match between Fulham and Liverpool has been delayed until 3:15pm (8:45pm IST),” the Premier League Match Centre X (formerly Twitter) account said in a statement.
The three other simultaneous games on matchday 20 — Tottenham vs Sunderland at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Everton vs Brentford at Hill Dickinson Stadium and Newcastle United vs Crystal Palace at St. James' Park — all kicked off at 3pm local (8:30pm IST) as scheduled.
The wait was worth it, eventually as the Cottagers and Reds produced an enthralling game of football. Harrison Reed scored a fantastic long-range goal, deep in stoppage time to earn Fulham a 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
Liverpool fans were still celebrating after Cody Gakpo had scored what seemed like a late winner in the 94th minute. But they were left stunned by Reed's near-instant response.
In the three concurrent games before that, Newcastle emerged 2-0 victors over Crystal Palace, while Brentford pipped Everton 4-2 and the Tottenham vs Sunderland encounter ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
