Fire Breaks Out In Eden Gardens Dressing Room Amid ODI World Cup 2023 Renovation Work: Report

With the ODI World Cup 2023 around the corner, a massive fire broke out in one of the venues for the mega tournament - Eden Gardens. The fire broke in one of the dressing rooms of the legendary stadium in Kolkata, as per local reports. (More Cricket news)

Eden Gardens is slated to host several ODI World Cup games including the India-South Africa game on November 5. It will also play host to the second semi-final on November 16. 

The fire broke out around 11:50 pm, according to a report in Sangabad Pratidin, a local newspaper.

The groundstaff present at the stadium, saw the fire coming out of the 'away end's dressing room'. As per the report, the renovation work was going outside the dressing room. The report further states that smoke ensued from the false ceiling of the dressing room. However, fire brigade was called for and the fire was doused as soon as possible.

The iconic Eden Gardens will host six matches during the World Cup 2023, including the second semi-final on November 16.

Rohit Sharma-led India will play South Africa at Eden Gardens during a league phase match on November 5, whereas it's first match to be played at the venue will be on October 31 that sees Pakistan take on Bangladesh.
